Vialite — web configurator for Vial keyboards

Vialite configures Vial-protocol mechanical keyboards directly in the browser over WebHID. There is no Qt, no WebAssembly and no driver install — open the page in Chrome or Edge, click Connect, and pick your keyboard from the browser's device chooser. Your keymap never leaves your machine: the site is static and talks only to the keyboard itself.

What you can do

• Keyboard config — assign keycodes per layer on a rendered physical layout, with ISO-Enter, rotary encoders and layout options; includes a dedicated dual-role (layer-tap / mod-tap) editor.
• Personalization — keycap size, spacing, case radius, legend font and colour, macOS vs Windows key naming, plus PNG export of one layer or all of them.
• Macros, tap dance and combos — recorded and edited in-browser, where the firmware supports them.
• RGB lighting — VialRGB (QMK rgb_matrix) effect, hue, saturation, brightness and speed. Changes are RAM-only until saved to EEPROM.
• QMK settings — grave-escape, magic, one-shot, tap-hold, mouse keys and combo timing.
• Import / export — read and write .vil layout files.
• Keyboard test — unlock-and-poll matrix diagnostics for checking every switch.
• 3D preview — your current layout on a 3D keyboard model.

Requirements

A WebHID-capable browser — Chrome or Edge. Safari and Firefox don't implement WebHID, so they can open this page but can't connect to a keyboard.

About this project

Vialite is an independent, from-scratch frontend — not a fork or wrapper of the official vial-web, which cross-compiles the vial-gui PyQt5 desktop app to WebAssembly. The Vial HID protocol is reimplemented in TypeScript, ported from vial-gui's Python source. Licensed GPL-2.0; source at github.com/tcyeee/vialite.
